Well, it seems that I did something truly bizarre. As I was adding packages, it came to my attention that I could not find them. That was annoying but not a crisis. As I browsed down the directory tree to /usr/local/bin I was rather surprised to discover that their was not such directory. Some how the /usr/local/bin is a file and not a directory. LOL. How the devil did that happen?
