That's why I suspect it's a PAM thing. su does use PAM, right? Excuse me for being dense, but you still haven't answered if you can reproduce the help message. I still consider su's help message a bug. A tool that prints "Use su --help for help" but doesn't support --help has a bug that needs to be fixed. Please reopen the PR.
