The following reply was made to PR misc/34720; it has been noted by GNATS. From: n4okg@mobis.com (Al Turner) To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, n4okg@mobis.com Cc: Subject: Re: misc/34720: Kernel recognizes sound card but does not initialize it. Date: Thu, 7 Feb 2002 19:22:25 -0600 FIXED! On a hunch, I unselected PNP OS in the BIOS (which I had selected to keep the device probe from hanging during install and/or /stand/sysinstall probes). Not only does the sound card now work, but my PCI PNP modem is recognized and moved to a non-existent serial port. I did not install the substitute sound card - too much work dwhen compared to configuring the BIOS. Case closed - but someone else might get bitten by the same dog!
