 * 1 ) the info files belonging to the gcc-2.6.2 version

Isn't it in /usr/share/info? It is in -current, and I don't think the
info files changed that much between 2.6.2 and 2.6.3....

 * 2 ) There's a tool that came with the 2.6.2 distribution, I forget the name
 * but it's to take the symbol name of a function (like from an 'nm'
 * listing) and convert it to a function name and signature. I want
 *     that tool.

Sorry, no idea what this is.

 * If you don't have those, maybe you know of the location of a copy of the
 * 2.6.2 version of gcc?  That's the version I'm running (I'm running
 * FreeBSD 2.0R still) and I want to be correct here). I need this to
 * continue shooting this weird bug. Thanks.

Hmm...I tried prep and gatekeeper but couldn't find it there. archie
told me about ftp.cc.gatech.edu:/ac86/gnu though, should be pretty
close from your place. :)
