Thanks for the help - I do have a kernel compiled with the "options DSI_SOFT_MODEM" (sorry - should have mentioned it) and it does recognize the modem/com port. So it sounds like I'm part way there without hacking the Linux code - can anyone point me to the FreeBSD utility and/or knowledge that I need? Thanks!
