Few ports have a need to re-run autoconf, and all other will have the problem since that's coded into configure, not autoconf. I'd second the original suggestion, albeit there's a possible collision with ports defining these by themselves, so some Makefile magic is needed - these defaults must be PREPENDED (not added/appended) to CONFIGURE_ARGS. -- Matthias Andree
