 I think you are correct about setkey(8) referencing the wrong RFC for
 ESP.  Some addional information :
 
 setkey(8) states that esp-old is based on RFC1827.
 
 RFC1827: IP Encapsulating Security Payload (ESP)
 RFC2405: The ESP DES-CBC Cipher Algorithm With Explicit IV
 RFC2406: IP Encapsulating Security Payload (ESP)
 
 RFC2406 states that it obsoletes RFC1827.
 
 Since setkey(8) originates from KAME, and since people from the KAME
 project are most likely to know if the manual page really is incorrect,
 I have filed this as KAME PR/480 (
