The following reply was made to PR docs/46919; it has been noted by GNATS. From: "Simon L. Nielsen" <simon@nitro.dk> To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, trost@cloud.rain.com Cc: Subject: Re: docs/46919: setkey(8) references the wrong RFC for ESP Date: Mon, 26 May 2003 16:09:33 +0200 --pQhZXvAqiZgbeUkD Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hello I think you are correct about setkey(8) referencing the wrong RFC for ESP. Some addional information : setkey(8) states that esp-old is based on RFC1827. RFC1827: IP Encapsulating Security Payload (ESP) RFC2405: The ESP DES-CBC Cipher Algorithm With Explicit IV RFC2406: IP Encapsulating Security Payload (ESP) RFC2406 states that it obsoletes RFC1827. Since setkey(8) originates from KAME, and since people from the KAME project are most likely to know if the manual page really is incorrect, I have filed this as KAME PR/480 ( http://orange.kame.net/dev/query-pr.cgi?pr=3D480 ). --=20 Simon L.
