The SCSI probe looks like this... ncr0 <ncr 53c810 scsi> rev 2 int a irq 11 on pci0:11 ncr0 waiting for scsi devices to settle (ncr0:0:0): "QUANTUM EMPIRE_1080S 1022" type 0 fixed SCSI 2 sd0(ncr0:0:0): Direct-Access sd0(ncr0:0:0): FAST SCSI-2 100ns (10 Mb/sec) offset 8. 1029MB (2109376 512 byte sectors) (ncr0:3:0): "MATSHITA CD-ROM CR-503 1.0f" type 5 removable SCSI 2 The problem is that before this SCSI probe, the kernel thinks it's on sd1. Even before the FREEBSD banner comes up with the kernel build time (before top lines shown in dmesg) it refers to sd1.
