It seems that abit has come out with a board with 4 channels on onboard ide,
allowing for a total of 8 drives.

http://www.abit.com.tw/english/product/be6.htm

Does anyone know if I will be able to create a beast with 8 ide drives and
this mothboard running FreeBSD? My intention is to get a bunch of cheap and
decent sized (8-13gb) ide drives and make a big ccd set out of them for a
file server.

I want to use ide because speed and fault tolerance are not required, but
random access is required (so no tape).
