FreeBSD mercury.local.net 4.6-STABLE FreeBSD 4.6-STABLE #0: Sat Aug 31 18:58:52 SAST 2002 driad@mercury.local.net:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/MERCURY i386
>Description:
Serial console is configured on COM1. If the machine is restarted while the client computer is switched on but not running the terminal program (happens regardless of the OS), the machine will not boot but sit at the "boot:" prompt until it is manually booted.
>How-To-Repeat:
Set up the serial console with the following flag in kernel:

device sio0 at isa? port IO_COM1 flags 0x10 irq 4
options CONSPEED=115200

and the following contents of the boot.config file:
-Dh

Reboot the machine and don't run a terminal program on the client.

>Fix:
Manually boot the machine. Does not happen if the terminal program is running at the time of the reboot (hassle).
