It is better for me to document one way in UPDATING than to be
constantly changing it.  We try to not need the proceedure there, but
it will always work.  It was developed as people cut their teeth in
the 3.x -> 4.0 current (of the time) and has proven to be quite
successful up until now.

I try to mention in entries when it is needed, but there can be a lag
between the event and the commit to UPDATING.
