Ha!, no, it fails for me either.  It only worked on the diskless
machine.

The partition nodes for the disk are not being created.  Only
/dev/sd0, /dev/rsd0, and /dev/rsd0.ctl are there, nothing more.

Maybe Bruce can give a hint here?
