I am looking to for a systems person in NYC for my client (onsite)

Reporting to the VP, Network Operations, the Senior Systems Engineer is par=
t
of a team responsible for the architecture, build, design and operation of
the company=B9s computing, network, and storage infrastructure. The Senior
Systems Engineer works closely with engineers during the analysis and desig=
n
phases of the software development process. The Senior Systems Engineer
participates in the development and definition of processes to ensure
solutions are consistent with the business strategies. The Senior Systems
Engineer analyzes and tunes hardware/software configurations, automates
existing manual processes, and identifies improvements to our existing
tools.
Key will be the ability to adapt to a highly nimble business environment,
this means using technical skills and experience to make the right decision=
,
quickly. Personal and team accountability will be fundamental to your
success in this role. Establishment and evolution of key metrics, ranging
from operational to relevant business insight is critical to success.

Responsibilities:
=80 Responsible for and assists in the troubleshooting and resolution of
infrastructure problems =80 Performs application profiling, capacity planni=
ng,
workload modeling and forecasting on systems, networks, databases, and
storage.
=80 Designs, prepares and conducts new technology evaluations to determine
infrastructure solutions based on business requirements and makes
recommendations for improvement of infrastructure, technology, operational
capability, reliability and performance.
=80 Analyzes the performance of the infrastructure against current needs an=
d
planning for needed improvements.
=80 Ensures optimal system and storage configuration and provisioning throu=
gh
engineering health checks and engagement of storage / system vendors as
required.
=80 Responsible for reporting of system and storage allocation, usage trend=
s,
I/O performance and bottleneck analysis
=80 Responsible for developing, maintaining and documenting technology
standards used in the environment.

Qualifications:
=80 In-depth experience in deploying and managing mid to large scale
distributed Unix and Linux environments. Candidate should have experience
managing large and remote installations of ~500 servers and 200TB+ storage
=80 Extensive experience in systems and storage capacity management,
maintenance, forecasting and lifecycle planning focused on business
requirements.
=80 Extensive experience in UNIX shell scripting and developing automation
tools using perl, python or other languages.
=80 Excellent knowledge of server hardware and software troubleshooting wit=
h
mid-range operating systems software and hardware.  The company uses the
following technologies: CentOS, HP Proliant, Jboss, Mysql, Oracle, NetApp,
Cisco, AWS.
=80 Advanced or fundamental understanding of the following technologies:
mysql, Oracle, SAN, NAS.
=80 In depth knowledge & experience of Linux and Apache.
=80 Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and change with shifti=
ng
priorities.
=80 Demonstrated ability to engage with business owners to understand their
requirements, develop strategies to support business goals.
=80 5+ years experience with performance analysis, systems software, and
systems architecture.
=80 Ability to operate in high pressure environment and successfully handle
multiple priorities.
=80 Knowledge of system performance methodologies along with hands on
empirical monitoring.
=80 Proficiency in scripting/programming with Perl and Pytho
=80 Advanced or Fundamental knowledge of TCP/IP networking, architecture
(VLANS, Subnetting, Supernetting, Trunking, Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet,
EtherChannel, Firewalls) and core technologies (DNS, LDAP, NFS, FTP, DHCP,
etc.)
=80 B.S. Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred
=80 At least 5 years in a similar position and 10 years as a systems
engineer/administrator.
