I have a HP vectra that has been peacfully runing FreebSD for years. It
has an on motherboard ps/2 mouse port. I have thar configured so that
it works in console mode, and also in X.

The other day the machine locked up (it does the _very_ ocasianly).
Usually I just hit the power switch and all is well. In this case it
was early in the morinig, I was still sleppy and did not want to wake
up others in the house. This machine speaks up wheen booted. Well since
I was half awake, and did not want the noise, I puled what I thought
was the sound card output out of the back. Unfortunately it was the
mouse. The mouse has not worked since. After I cahnged the mouse and
rwbooted, to no avail. I resorted to booting inot DSO from a floppy
disk. There the mouse works fine.

Any sugestions ad to lock files etc, to check here?

	Thansk.
