Huh?  Nope, the whole trick does only work since the shell clobbers
PWD immediately, so the above won't work.

Do what you want, but this hack makes us incompatible to the rest of
the world.  (And since there are no or only a few clean-posix-only
scripts outside, it's even possible that there are some scripts
relying on the former behaviour.)
