Ah, right. I rebuilt the kernel -- this time, including the BREAK_TO_DEBUGGER option, so acessing ddb works just a wee bit better. [Sorry....] After doing a "forcestart" for dbus & hald, the system locked again; forcing a BREAK signal over serial dropped ot ddb.
