That's the behavior I'd expect a reasonable user to try first to work around
this issue. And that's exactly why it's a very big problem. This does NOT t=
hrow
any sort of error or warning; it just APPEARS to work. There is no warning =
of
incompatibility and nothing in UPDATING.

And on aarch64, there is no libarchive.so.6. At all. I confirmed with brd@ =
that
he built the RaspBSD image with GENERIC that contains COMPAT_FREEBSD11. Whi=
ch
means anyone who attempts to go from a pre-318898 installation to >=3D31889=
8 is
going to have a broken system at best. If they used pkgbase, it's going to =
be a
lot worse.
