You can put other filesystems on DVDs.

This is the real purpose, yes.  If there's a market for a FreeBSD DVD, 
then overcoming the technical issues is simply a matter of doing the 
work.  If there's no market, there's little point in the work.

The process of producing a DVD at the moment is still extremely 
painful.  We're hoping that the tools will improve shortly, especially 
with the new range of low-end mastering devices appearing.
