I'm running X11R6.1 which can be obtained at: ftp://ftp.x.org/pub/R6.1/xc but there is undoubtably a mirror site closer to you (see http://www.x.org/consortium/GettingX11R6.1.html). Untar'ed the source is about 142M and I think it takes around 100M to compile, so about 242M are needed to build it.
