I thought so at first. I had these in my /etc/make.conf, but rebuild 
every port without them:

CPUTYPE=       i686
CFLAGS=        -O -pipe
COPTFLAGS=     -O -pipe

Both FreeBSD, apache, php and joomla were fresh installs.
