I don't have anything useful to add; but then I don't use hostap mode
with an IP address on the wlan interface. I tend to dump the hostap
wlan interfaces into a bridge group.

You'll likely have to go digging into the network scripts a bit.

Also, you likely shouldn't have " "'s around the ssid.
