>Environment:

5.0 release installation CD 1
Compaq Armada M300
multi boot config:
	ad0s1: ext2 GRUB partition
	ad0s2: FreeBSD-4.7 (works fine)
	ad0s3: FreeBSD-5.0
ad0s4: extended partition with some Linux'es

>Description:

installation of 5.0 from installation cd's on third slice goes fine,
the resulting system is perfectly mountable and readable from the
4.7 on the second slice. However, when booting (via GRUB) the new
5.0 system on ad0s3, the kernel loads, configures ACPI and then stops
with the message
	mounting root from ufs:/dev/ad0s3a
	setrootbyname failed
	ffs_mountroot: can't find rootvp
	rootmount failed: 6

inspecting the list of valid disk boot devices gives:
	list of geom disk devices:
	geom.ctl

and that's it. only option is to reboot

>How-To-Repeat:
	boot as described above.
>Fix:
	<?>
