Subject: SiS 900 problem - FreeBSD 4.5 RELEASE

I recently bought a new motherboard (Asus P4S333-VM) with an on-board SiS900
ethernet controller integrated into the SIS650 chipset with an ICS 1893Y-01
LAN PHY chip.

When trying to install FreeBSD the following message appears:-

From my dmesg:
  > sis0: <SiS 900 10/100BaseTX> port 0xa000-0xa0ff mem
0xe6000000-0xe6000fff irq 5 at device 3.0 on pic 0
  > sis0: Ethernet address: 00:e0:18:72:10:40
  > sis0: MII without any PHY!
  > device_probe_and_attach: sis0 attach returned 6

Then the device disappears and is not accessible.

Any tips? Patches? Information?

This problem is especially tiresome as this motherboard is fitted in a
low-profile case which does not allow for full size PCI cards, so I can't
even fit a normal network card to get around the issue.

Thank you for your time and assistance with this matter.

best Regards,

Andrew Starkey.
