I was able to install the linux versions of:

Java (jdk-1_5_0_01-linux-i586.bin (from sun's website)
OpenOffice OOo_1.1.4_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz (from OO's website)

and with linux compat it works on:

5.4-STABLE - AMD Athlon 64 3000

I am watching the port though to see it run native.
