for one thing, once i built xemacs w/o the sole depend target w/o
any problems whatsoever as an exercise.  related thread was on
-questions & message id of 1st message is

second, there are emacs like small programs, one of them is mg.

third, just vi all the way be it nvi, or (g)vim.  im so ho.
