Typing sshd on the command line gives:

    sshd re-exec requires execution with an absolute path

Typing /usr/sbin/sshd solve this.

Also, afaik, it's very likely that if the user didn't select sshd at install time there will be no ssh keys. It would probably good to mention how to properly create the key at this point.

You also need to be root when launching sshd.
