Recent versions of Linux support the T3000. I backup my freebsd box
over our network which takes the overhead of controlling the drive off
the freebsd box (somewhat). Works fine for now.

The impression I've gotten is that 2.1.7 (2.1.7.1?) is recommended
over 2.2 for systems that need 100% reliability. 2.2 is supposed to
have some nice features like better Linux and SCO support (and I think
I heard something about native AppleTalk over ethernet support) so if
you need those kind of features, 2.2 is where to go.
