Ah, I finally discovered that caveat.  Too bad, the incremental backup
concept had me intrigued.  Oh, well.  I went back to tar and it did
surprisingly well.  I'll stick with that.  Now I'll just have an excuse for
learning shell scripting and perl to make the incremental function work.
