It sure makes sense to follow convention. Switching to and from different
dialects is a pain we have to face more than enough. I personnally
don't like the /devices idea and all the links etc that Solaris uses.

Un*x was designed with compact names etc, everyone who needs 
self explanatory names is probably using the same OS.  :-)
