>Description:
When having mounted smbfs shares which stop to be active (remote samba server is stopped), but the mount still remains mounted and when trying to access the mount point directory where the directory is mounted with the nautilus manager, nautilus stops to respond, everything on the desktop ( icons, stuff) disappears and it stays like this until nautilus is restarted or the desktop restores after 10 or more minutes. I'm not sure is this a nautilus bug or samba bug. I'm running gnome version 2.20.2, nautilus version 2.20.0, samba 3.0.26a. A guy in the irc.freenode.net ##freebsd channel suggested that the problem is because:
"it's rather a smbfs/kern bug, smbfs isn't handling the error condition and is wedging the vfs to the point where the system is nearly unusable"
>How-To-Repeat:
mount remote samba share on the FreeBSD machine. Then stop the remote samba share, try to access the share with nautilus. The result is nautilus hangs and everything on the desktop disappears for a long time.
