hi, i've just recieved my walnut creek freebsd cd roms and am getting ready to set it up when my computer gets here. computer will be a 386 (probably sx) with around 4 to 8 megs of ram. scsi cd drive. the hard drive would be small so i was going to buy a larger drive. 500 meg ide. i have heard that going larger than 500 meg on a 386 wouldn't work because the computer wouldn't see the extra space. eide supposedly takes care of this. is this true. is there any trouble with support for eide hard drives with freebsd and a 386? i have limited funds, so i'm starting small and hoping to upgrade as i become more familiar and comfortable with the operating system. i want to make the initial installation as simple as possible. if there is going to be problems with an eide drive then i don't want to mess with it at the moment. are my concerns unreasonable or is it not really that big of a deal? thanks for the help john John Anderson (johna@bbcc.ctc.edu) Library Computer Specialist I Big Bend Community College Library 7662 Chanute St. Moses Lake, WA 98837 (509) 762-6246
