That would seem to match my rpi2 reports: I have
a USB SSD on a powered hub for the root file
system on the rpi2 that I was using.

(Recently the mmcsd0 mechanism to hold in the
sdcard is broken but the eject mechanism
still works. I hold in the sdcard during
the early boot. But I've used a USB SSD
for such small boards for a long time.)
