did that.
Still no login prompt via serial console. Although my getty is running:

marian46-23# ps ax | grep ttyd
  810 ?? I 0:00.00 /usr/libexec/getty std.9600 ttyd1
  809 d0 Is+ 0:00.00 /usr/libexec/getty std.9600 ttyd0
  882 p1 R+ 0:00.00 grep ttyd
marian46-23# grep ttyd /etc/ttys
ttyd0 "/usr/libexec/getty std.9600" vt220 on secure
ttyd1 "/usr/libexec/getty std.9600" vt220 on secure
ttyd2 "/usr/libexec/getty std.9600" dialup off secure
ttyd3 "/usr/libexec/getty std.9600" dialup off secure

This was of course logged in via ssh.

actually that sysctl looks fine to me:
marian46-23# sysctl kern.console
kern.console: ttyd0,dcons,consolectl,/dcons,consolectl,ttyd0,

FWIW here's the complete serial output of the boot process. And yeah,
it's really missing the login prompt.
marian46-23# cat /tmp/boot.txt
? or [Space] to pause timer 0 ?
