During boot time the following messages are displayed (approx): (immediately after detection of acd0) acd0: DVDR Optiarc-7590S/1.00 at ata3 master UDMA33 acd0: TIMEOUT - READ_BIG (1 retry left) acd0: TIMEOUT - READ_BIG (0 retries left) acd0: FAILURE - timed out GEOM_LABEL: Label for provider acd0 is iso9660/FreeBSD_Install acd0: TIMEOUT - READ_BIG (1 retry left) acd0: TIMEOUT - READ_BIG (0 retries left) If i continue the installation with media type CD/DVD, there are read errors for almost any port (base, GENERIC, ...). I can only use FTP to install FreeBSD on this machine or use an older release e. g. 6.3-RELEASE. I tried the same with 7.0-STABLE-200807 with the same result >How-To-Repeat: Try to boot / read from any FreeBSD-isos greater than 7.0-RELEASE on a machine using a SATA CD/DVD drive in IDE Mode. It does not occur on 6.3-RELEASE/i386 using the same media type (blank CD). (i have not tried older releases or other sys-types than this) Changing the media type (blank CD from another vendor) does not help. >Fix: n/a >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted:
