See /sys/i386/conf/LINT (on 4.1-STABLE):

options         SC_HISTORY_SIZE=200     # number of history buffer lines

Increase that in your kernel config & recompile & reboot. That is if
you're using sc of course, I wouldn't know if pcvt can do the same.
