I tried to use FreeBSD 2.1.0 to export 2.2-960323 files, the exactly same
problem happened. It looks like a very generic problem. If you cannot
reproduce the problem, please send me the instruction for generating
the installation code, so I can debug the problem.
Other choice:
If some one, (Jordan is close to us, but I know he is busy, right :-),
wants to come to LBL to debug, you are welcome,
and everything has been setup and is ready to go.

A little more information. The FTP installation also pauses at this point
for a second, and then continues. There must be some negotiation going on
at this point and it is broken for NFS:

stand/cat
stand/ls

P.S.	ping still works and showmount shows that everything is mounted
