Another user was running into this problem, and I found that odd CFLAGS
were causing libxml2 to behave erratically.  Recompile libxml2 with
CFLAGS=3D"-O -pipe" (CPUTYPE can generally be whatever, though p4 is a bad
choice), and you should be set.
