After looking at this, this is "case 8" of my to-do list.

We need to figure out whether we want to eliminate all the instances
thereof.

I figure if I do it, danfe will complain that I didn't test it with c89
or c99 first, because those are the "most correct".

Right now I just feel like I can't win.
