Indeed.

Getting a bit bored with this, I hunted back through the -acpi archives 
tonight to find the exact issue .. a refresh cycle for failing memory :)

Too right.

I expect that the chances of interesting anyone to work on merging much 
of the recent ACPI work back into the 6.X tree are fairly close to zero.
