Then you didn't install it using the FreeBSD port or package.  Always
try to use the ports collection and/or packages first, since people have
already taken the time to ensure that the software concerned is
configured correctly for FreeBSD.

What makes you think they're interdependant?  The ports / packages for
these two indicate no dependencies whatsoever.
