There is also rule number one: Respect other committers. Mark's commit 
violated it (not to mention the rule number 10, "test your changes");

There was only one disputed change: the version bump, and it was backed 
out :-). Someone could try to dispute my unbump. There were no 
technical arguments against my change (Nate's later mail is first 
resembling a techical argument).

I apologise that I violated the rule (and continue to do so :-(). But, 
the public fight is started by Mark, not me.
