I should move to the questions mail group,
I think I have a modem problem. My ISA USR
sportster modem is showing as sio4 in dmesg.

Is this a problem? If so I might have to recompile the kernel?
or adjust the jumpers on the modem. I think my dual boot
win2k sees the modem as com3. I'd like to understand what's
going on before I try connecting to the ISP.
