Nowadays No, the reason is completely different - broken pseudographics due to 8bit->9bit VGA extension. In VGA adapter pseudographics must be only in place it currently is in CP437 (866*). In all other places it will be broken (missing 9th pixel), and there is no possibility to change this range via VGA registers. -- Andrey A.
