Hi,

A good start is the manpage of ntp.conf
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=ntp.conf&apropos=0&sektion=0&manpath=FreeBSD+9.0-RELEASE+and+Ports&arch=default&format=html
The authentification support is described.

You have the handbook page for the basics :
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/network-ntp.html

Regards,
Alexandre
