Found it! Due to the recent problems with /procfs (mount_procfs gone) I disabled the mount in /etc/fstab. The symptom I described (no ps times 00:00:00 , no command lines, just (getty) ) occurs exactly when there is no /procfs. --Chris Christoph P. U. Kukulies kuku@gil.physik.rwth-aachen.de
