no, I'm grasping at reality.

I'm sure all of our users read the release notes before upgrading as
diligently and thoroughly as they read the man pages, handbook, and/or
FAQ before mailing -questions.

as warner points out, the lack of widespread use of the wx driver may
be the saving grace that would allow such a major change so late into
a release branch. try the same stunt with fxp or xl and see what happens.
