Could you please try follwing patch against the current port (/usr/ports/textproc/xerces-c2/) which should change this behavior and also link libxerces-c against libiconv: http://sources.zabbadoz.net/freebsd/ports/xerces-c2-2.5.0_1.diff If it works for you I would appreciate feedback to get this patch committed.
