I had a problem with a 3com card one time. Not sure if your's is the same problem. Here it goes: When booting up and choosing the visual mode for Kernel configuration. Under network and the card settings. There are 3 things the i/o and irq and the , I believe its called memory address. My card would not work with the memory address it had in the bsd configuration.
