Your IP address will be assigned through your isp and has 
nothing (in this scenario) to do with your hostname.
Take a look in /etc/defaults/rc.conf there is the specification
for setting the hostname on every boot up in /etc/rc.conf
Alternatively you can do a hostname this_is_the_name_of_my host
and test it simply with hostname. Don't get confused!
