Pierre, You should be careful which FreeBSD mailing lists you post to. Because all FreeBSD's lists are read by volenteers only, if you don't play by the rules you'll get little or no help. The freebsd-doc mailing list is for querys and problems with documentation such as the web site, Handbook and FAQ. You really wanted the freebsd-questions@freebsd.org mailing list, which would have got your problem to people who actually want to help others with their problems! Anyway, to your question : On 05-Jun-99 pierre@siteit.net wrote: > I'm tryin to install QUOTA on my box but I can't find the kernal config file! The kernel config file isn't stored in / These two files are actual kernel binaries : > -rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 2329748 May 18 04:05 kernel > -rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 2329748 May 18 04:05 kernel.GENERIC But the config file will be in /usr/src/sys/i386/conf/ and it's name will depend on what it was called when it was made! However, the fact that you had to ask this question in the first place suggests that you don't know that much about customising kernels. Therefore, I suggest you read the relevent section of the manual in /usr/share/doc/handbook/ or http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/ And please be more careful with your posting in future. --- Andrew Boothman <andrew@cream.org> http://sour.cream.org/ To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-doc" in the body of the message
